Mt. Hood, Trillium Lake, Mt. Hood National Forest, OR
 
As evidenced in the photo, the crisp winter air stilled the waters of Trillium Lake. As we approached the lakeshore, this rock with a little cap of ice on top caught my eye. Even though it was an awkward distance into the water, I couldn’t pass up this foreground. Sitting on another half-submerged rock, I plopped my tripod into the water and waited for the ripples to dissipate. And then…it was perfect.
